March 8: Step Through the Door and Take Action

A personal reflection on International Women's Day: awareness, action, and feminine leadership.

International Women’s Day

March 8 marks a new year that calls us to pause and reflect.

Today I ask myself:
should we only celebrate, or should we also evaluate where we truly stand as women?

I also wonder to what extent we influence our environment, and to what extent our environment influences us.

This awareness, born through a day of celebration, cannot remain only in applause.
It must also become a space of deep inspiration and motivation to believe again.

The True Feminine Strength

To me, feminine strength is not only:

  • doing many things at the same time,
  • carrying many thoughts at once,
  • or living every day busy, trying to create 27 hours out of the 24 we all share.

A woman is capable of all that, and much more.

She can be a mother, a daughter, a partner, a professional.
She can lead a company, excel in her work, and also care for herself: her growth, her well-being, and her beauty.

Doors That Are Already Open

Being a woman today has transformed boundaries and reached spaces that once seemed out of reach.

We have iconic examples:
Japan’s first female prime minister is a woman, and the president of the United Nations General Assembly is also a woman, both for the first time.

And beyond those examples, there are thousands of first times when a woman opened the door.

Our Calling

To the women of the world, and especially to my Latin region and my country, Bolivia:

today we are invited to enter those spaces where doors have already been opened.

May this March 8 once again become a moment to recognize that desire, that opportunity, and above all, that call to step through the door and take action, wherever we are.
